We were nationally chartered in 1991. Non-profit Veteran Organization. Today our membership consists of former military veterans, active duty military. Membership is open to all active duty, reservist, and retired military; and active and retired civil service, regardless of race, sex, or age. Our purpose is to provide community support for the benefit of unfortunate and aspiring youth, the elderly, and those less fortunate.
We have demonstrated throughout the years our dedication to charity by contributing to individuals and numerous organizations such as the Texas Youth Commission, Baptist Children’s Home, Air Force Enlisted Foundation, Lackland AFB Fisher House, the George Gervin Center, the Eagle Scouts San Antonio Food Bank Drive, Feeding the Homeless Under the Bridge, the Haiti Relief Effort, Undergarment drives for the Baptist Children’s Home, participating in the San Antonio Juneteenth Celebration, and provided Support to grieving families through our Sunshine Committee. For the last 33 years, we have sponsored the Annual Walter C. Gaskins Picnic, for at risk youth, at the Texas Youth Commission’s Ayers House.
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons, we contribute food baskets or gift cards to families in need. In October 1998, we played an important role in supplying aid to the families that were devastated by the floods here in San Antonio. In August 2005, we supported the American Red Cross by donating funds and volunteering numerous hours at the various shelters housing hurricanes Katrina and Rita evacuees. Additionally, we support many other deserving organizations.
December of each year, the organization holds an annual Christmas Party as our way of showing our appreciation and gratitude to the supporters who help make our mission possible; because without their support, we would not be able to provide the aide we provide within the community.
Each January we hold our annual MLK Celebration dinner in honor of the life works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."
